I am currently Advisor on Creative Industries and Tourism to Prime Minister Ana Brnabic of Serbia. I am also Chief Strategist for the Serbia’s Nation Brand platform, Serbia Creates and Strategic Director for Serbia’s participation in Dubai World Expo 2020.
I have been part of the Serbia Creates programme since its inception and am responsible for the strategy that ensures that Serbia is promoted as a nation with innovation, ingenuity and creativity embedded in its DNA. The goal is to positively shift notions of what Serbia and Serbians have to offer in ways that improve economic and social opportunity, and allow for the realisation of key foreign and domestic policy objectives.
My major responsibility for 2021 is Serbia’s participation at the Dubai 2020 World Expo where I am responsible for organizing a comprehensive programme of content that cements Serbia’s reputation as a creative and innovative centre of cooperation. The project includes separate pop-up business hubs in Dubai (general business, tech & innovation, and design /creative industries) throughout the six month event, as well as a schedule of presentations, business forums, networking events and national business presentations on the pavilion and around Dubai, including a Serbia Creative Industries Week to be held at Dubai Design District. Beyond my Dubai programme my work in Belgrade has also included the formulation of a Music Export office and a Design Export Office, as well as an export showcase in London, a creative industries flagship hub in central Belgrade, and Serbian brand promotion from Oslo to Paris to Lisbon to Los Angeles.
Prior to my work in Serbia, I ran my own international consultancy delivering sector development programmes on all five continents, with activations in South Africa, Peru, Namibia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Serbia, Georgia, Turkey, Indonesia, Sweden, Italy, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Romania, India, France, South Korea, the UK and the USA. I have also developed film, music, events and tourism incentives programmes and film co-production treaties for various countries. I am recognised as a thought leader on the links between creative industries and tourism.
I am the former Executive Director of the Association of Film Commissioners International, the Colorado Film Commission, the Cape Film Commission, the Cape Town Film Office and the former Chief Operations Officer of Sithengi, the Southern African International Film and Television Market. As well as extensive government experience, I have also consulted on private sector Film Studio Development on projects in Serbia, Italy, Scotland, Namibia, India and South Africa.
