Dark Skies, starring Keri Russell, presses a lot of familiar buttons in the old chestnut of the family being spooked at home by something scary and unwelcome. You’ll have seen everything before, somewhere or other. But interestingly, Dark Skies handles it all really quite effectively, the suspense builds, and there are some holy-crap, in-seat-jumpy moments. Keri Russell’s really actually very good as the increasingly brittle Mom trying to hold it all together in the face of the unsettling things happening to her family. It’s a slow burn, and unexpectedly, I really enjoyed it. So, there you go.
