Alongside two big guns – Harrison Ford and a strangely appealing Diane Keaton – Rachel McAdam completely holds her own in Morning Glory. She plays Becky, a pert, borderline ADD workaholic who’s trying to save a lowly morning lifestyle show from the axe. Ford and Keaton are the anchors, one glum, one game, who eviscerate each other with barbed banter – and Becky has to shake them out of their mutual dislike to build a team and a show. So it’s not Broadcast News – there’s no great underlying debate about news versus entertainment – but it’s sweet and pretty funny, laugh-out-loud-funny at times. It’s also got the golden Patrick Wilson in it, which means that just about everything is right with the world.
