In 1665, as the Black Death decimates the town of Eyam, the brave villagers make an incredible decision: to quarantine the entire town to prevent the plague from spreading beyond its borders.
Trapped inside the Cordon Sanitaire, a crippled outcast named Alys is the town’s Searcher, responsible for recording deaths. She discovers that some of the dead have been murdered, their deaths disguised to look like plague.
As the bodies pile up, mistrust and superstition and old wounds erupt, and Alys must expose the killer before – he or she – strikes again.
