Biting the hand that feeds you? The trailer of Stonewall focuses so heavily on the fictional character played by(admittedly handsome) Jeremy Irvine – and so little on the film’s actual, living breathing characters of colour – that critics have blasted the film for allegedly “whitewashing” the events of Stonewall. Even Irvine says: “You know, I’m not in charge of film marketing but I think that was a very misleading trailer…”
